I actually find the opposite to be true. In general a supply chain skill set covers a wide base as we have to have a good rapport with many different departments. In the development of that you learn their struggles and how to be a better supplier to the internal customer.
That growth is where supply chain gets it’s wide base from. You MUST know a great majority of the production functionality, capacity, financials, procurement and sales.
The role may be different from company to company with the same title, but as long as you have a good base of knowledge you can crush basically any SC position.
